\\
  1. 1 Sweatshirt- the surf shop Sweatshirt because it is 30% off so it’s  cheaper than the other one.
  2. Sweatshirt- the surf shop sweatshirt is $18 because you take 30% off and the other sweatshirt is $28 because you have taken 40% off. 36s  19
______________________________________________________________________________
  1. jacket - surf the waves shop jacket is cheaper because even though it has a lower percent it is still a cheaper price.
  2. Jacket- The surf shop Jacket is $36 because you take away 30% the second jacket is  $19 because you take 20% off so the cheaper jacket is $6 cheaper.
______________________________________________________________________________
  1. Jeans- the surf shop jeans are cheaper because 30% of 48 is 33.60 and 45% off 68 is 37.40.
  2. The surf shop jeans are cheaper by 3.80.
______________________________________________________________________________
  1. tracksuit-The surf the waves company tracksuit is cheaper because 25% off 64 is 48 and 30% of 86 is 60.2.

A) The least amount of money you could spend if you brought one of each of these clothing items would be 200.40.

B) The most amount of money you could spend would be around $224.80.

C) You would save 24.40 in total.

I figured it out by figuring out what the percent is as a fractions, by the cost and dividing by the fractions denominator. Then misusing the total from the cost.

The thing I found most challenging was using the multiplication and division strategies to estimate and solve problems with fractions, because it was pretty hard to find a strategy that worked.

Here were the strategies we did:

- Use multiplication and division strategies we used to estimate and solve problems with fractions, e.g.
>12 ÷ 3 = 1 2/3
> Find a fraction of another fraction by multiplying.
>Describe and show remaining tenths, hundredths, thousandths as decimal fractions and relate them to place value order.

>- Work out and explain percentages of simple amounts

Blog Post Title : Te Reo, Term 4 2016.

This term we have been learning all about the Marae. We have learned that…….

  • The Marae is an important focal point for the community.
  • The Marea is a place where tradition and customs can be carried out.
  • The Marae is a place where people can express their values with dignity.
  • There are many kawa ( protocols) that prevail on the marae.
  • Marae kawa (protocols) can differ between maraes and iwi.

We have focussed on some key concepts when doing this learning.
These are listed and explained in the table below.

Concept
Definition -
give the meaning of these concepts in your own words.
Tikanga
"the Māori way of doing things"
Pōwhiri
welcoming ceremony on a marae
Tangata whenua
'hospitality' to feel welcome when visiting New Zealand
Manuhiri
The tangata whenua are the local people who are connected to the marae
Tūrangawaewae
one of the most well-known and powerful Māori concepts
Whanaungatanga
sense of family connection
Manaakitanga
'hospitality' to feel welcome when visiting New Zealand
Aroha
love; affection.
sympathy

See this video for an explanation of the roles and responsibilities of people on a marae.

Something I would like to learn more about the marae is I don't know I've pretty much learnt everything.

Parliament

This term we have been learning about Parliament. We have looked at the difference between government and parliament, NZ parliament, who is in government, how our government works and we compared democracy to dictatorship.

Three things that I learned are NZ parliament are:

  • that the speaker can kick people out of parliament
  • that john key seats in the 4th seat to the right
  • that ruth dyson is our MP

Here is the link to my compare and contrast map explaining the difference between democracy and dictatorship.

KORU GAMES

The activity I did was football
two highlights were.....

  1. shooting a goal  in a penalty shot out because that was the only goal that our team scored during the whole 3 days .
  2. getting to buy food from the food shop because last year you weren't allowed to, but this year you were, and the food was very nice.
I am proud of our sportsmanship in our team cause even though we lost all our games we still had good sportsmanship .
some advice on Koru games for next years year 7's is even if you lose a game don't give up:)

The Water Cycle

The water cycle is a process that water goes through between land, sea and atmosphere. The water is recycled throughout this process; The water changes state throughout the cycle aswell. It can change to a liquid, gas or a solid and change back. The steps in the water cycle are evaporation, condensation, precipitation and groundwater/runoff.

Student Led Conference Reflection

The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were: that my parents were impressed with how my learning had been going.

What went well and why...my reports because when I showed them to my parents they were very impressed.

What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your SLC?.. the WiFi wasn't working at first but that's okay.

Care Progress

I have done a check of my CARE progress so far this year.

I am proud of my progress/ I am doing OK/ I feel I could do much better.

Give reasons for the answer that you have highlighted above.
I am very close to reaching my bronze alough

peer mediation merit evidence( must do )(post 4 )

yesterday my group and I did peer mediation at first I was scared that the I pad would be flat because it's happen to our group so many times it was properly most likely to happen but it DIDN'T  so that was a good start.
so anyway we put our vest on and headed towards the field looking for any problems we could help solve, but as we walked round the field we didn't get any problems and it stayed that way for the rest of lunch time yeah there were those problems like someone couldn't tie up there shoe lace but other than that my duty went great.
st about ready to say we didn't need to do it but the bell rang and we had to go inside

the duty today went really well and couldn't have gone better.

Bus ride to tech merit evidence( must do )( post 5)

a few days ago the 7's & 8's bused to the Lincoln primary school for technology
I was really looking forward to it today because we were changing subjects and my group and I were changing to design our last subject was sewing and I made heaps of things like.....

I just realized that I was getting off task so I am going to tell you about the bus ride to tech there's  not really much to talk about but this is technically what happened there and back...
,everyone was showing the C.A.R.E values the way there meant to be the one I that I think was shown the most would properly be respect the bus/ bus driver.

Bus ride to tech merit evidence( must do )( post 4 )

For the first time in term 2 the year 7's and 8's bused to Lincoln primary school for technology we were going to find what group we were all in today when we got there, i was excited to find out what group I was in next, the last group I had was cooking and it was fun.......
back to the bus ride, the bus ride there went really well until someone in the back opened up a window letting the freezing air go though the whole bus.
and the bus ride back was the same so there was no need for my to explain it to you.

The C.A.R.E values I think I showed on the bus( bus wise ) was probably stay sitted on bus at all times, and listen and respect the bus driver at all times. cause I stayed sitted   at all times even though I wanted to stand up and go shut the window.

radio station merit evidence( can do )( post 1 )

today Kyla and I went to radio station together normally I would go by myself but today I ask Kyla to come with me cause I always find it hard to do radio station by myself.
cause I have to control the mixer by myself, do the computer by myself, and speak by myself all at once so i figured I might ask for a little help today.

So we spent our lunch time talking on the radio, playing songs and having a good time.
finally the bell rang we turned the microphones, shut the computer, locked the door and went back to class.

I can describe the structure of a Short Story

The perfect solution

Something I have learned about the structure of short stories is:that the problem starts straight away

After reading some short stories two things I will remember when I write my own short story are that the first paragraph is about character and that the problem starts straight away

Bus ride to tech(must do)( post 3)

A few days ago the year 7s and 8s bussed to technology for the last time of the term.
And it was the best bus ride of the term/ year so far, everyone was quietly speaking to the person next  to them and were respectful to the bus driving who was driving us to technology.

The C.A.R.E values I think I showed the most on the bus (bus wise) was probably stay sitted on bus at all times, and listen and respect the bus driver at all times.
